"When we arrived, we had nothing — no language, no contacts, no idea where to turn. Safe Roots took us in like family."
Amara fled conflict in the DRC with her two young children, arriving in the UK with no contacts and very little English. Safe Roots International provided her family with emergency essentials, connected them to housing support, and enrolled her children in youth programmes. Within a year, Amara completed an English language course and secured part-time employment. Today, she volunteers at the same community centre that once welcomed her.
