Digital Skills Training Helps 35 Residents Get Online

Skills & Employment Team18 May 2026

For many of the people we support, being unable to use a smartphone or computer is a significant barrier — to work, to benefits, to staying in touch with family, and to accessing services.

This quarter, our Digital Skills programme delivered over 80 sessions to 35 participants, covering everything from setting up an email account to completing online job applications and accessing NHS services digitally.

Volunteer tutors — many of them from our own community — delivered sessions in five languages, ensuring nobody was excluded by language barriers. Several participants have since used their new skills to find employment, connect with family abroad, or access educational resources.

We are actively recruiting more volunteer digital tutors. If you have basic IT skills and a couple of hours per week to spare, get in touch.
